This powerhouse hybrid inherits its impressive size, dual-sided sticky leaf surfaces and an uniform base from P. gigantea Alba, and combines them with the long, narrow, grass-like leaves of P. moctezumae. The result is a sprawling, spectacular rosette of dewy ribbons that maximizes its surface area to catch pests.

Because both parent species originate from environments that do not experience harsh winter freezes, 'Apasionada' inherited a homophyllous growth habit. His work focused heavily on documenting, cultivating, and hybridizing Mexican butterworts, producing several famous cultivars known for their exceptional vigor and striking floral displays
