Description
Once included within Allium senescens, it turns out Allium lusitanicum is a distinct European species, while Allium senescens is a central Asian species.both species are a part of a larger grouping of many closely related species.
A species of dry rocky terrain on limestone from lowlands to the montane belt. In general, it seems that populations from higher altitudes are taller.
It can grow in almost no soil, being superseded in frugality, to my knowledge, only by one other Allium.
Will be super happy keeping company to your Sempervivums.
Excellent, autumn flowering species.
Origin of genotype: Karst near Škocijan caves, Slovenia
