The Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) is native to the temperate and subtropical wetlands of North Carolina and South Carolina, on the East Coast of the United States. Various cultivars and varieties have been created in cultivation by selective breeding and mutations incurred during cell culture propagation. Yet D. muscipula is the only species of the monotypic genus Dionaea. 

This is the typical cultivated form of the species. A good and inexpencive choice to begin cultivating venus flytraps.
